Chapter Eight — The Gift of Wisdom
March: Gratitude
1. The soul expresses gratitude on a constant basis. It is primarily concerned with service, so its gratitude tends to center around service opportunities. It remains grateful for a mere sliver of hope that its mind-body vehicle will heed its advice. It is joyful beyond description when it does. Who does the soul show gratitude towards? Life itself, the largest soul collective, and itself. It is thankful for its opportunities to grow and develop, however challenging those opportunities may be. It is grateful to itself for its willingness to take on life's challenges and deal with sometimes exceedingly difficult characters who oppose the soul's viewpoint at every turn.
2. On the surface level, the character level, there is much to be thankful for. And all thankfulness emanates from the soul level. Souls are grateful for all acts of kindness, both small and large, especially the ones where there is nothing in it for anyone's gain. It is just done as a kind and helpful act, with no reward or anything expected in return. You can see these everywhere you look. From both individuals and organized groups doing things for others, to entire countries giving humanitarian aid to countries in need. Souls shine during these moments, until the darkness settles in again and the character switches back to the "me, myself, and I" mode once again. Moments of gratitude give souls hope that one day they will have a starring role and can usurp the ego once and for all.
3. Guidelines:
Readers should delve directly into the "Gift of Wisdom" after completing all of the "Steps to Authenticity." Simply find the appropriate starting date on the calendar and begin there. Each month of affirmations centers around the theme and each theme is an aspect of wisdom. At the conclusion of this second year, the gift of wisdom will be yours. These exercises will facilitate soul growth by quieting the mind and retraining it to be in service to the soul and not strictly to the ego. Godspeed to all those who tread these waters to refine their authentic selves into shimmering gems.
